I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

“The earth with her bars” is how Jonah described the pillars of the earth when he was in the belly of hell, possibly in the place which we euphemistically refer to as Abraham’s bosom.
This is an eye-witness account of the internal structure of the Earth. We have to conclude that Jonah drowned in the sea and was resurrected in the belly of the whale. However, for a brief period of time, he was actually in sheol, in the same location as were Abraham and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31. He saw for himself what the interior of the Earth looked like. To him the pillars of the Earth looked like bars.

The sign of Jonah, in which the son of man will spend three days and three nights in the heart of the Earth, may be a function of gravitational time dilation (GTD). It may have nothing to do with Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. This is a lucky escape because we (that’s me and the Holy Spirit) have never been able to figure out how Friday night to Sunday morning is three days and three nights. Just sayin’.
In GTD time goes more slowly the closer we get to the center of the Earth. At the dead center a singularity has stopped time. Time passes more quickly the further away from the center we get. At a certain depth within the Earth the passage of one day would be equivalent to 1,000 years on the surface.
This means that Abraham’s bosom, a place in the lower mantle which overlooks hell and where the Old Testament saints had been waiting since Noah’s flood, is at a depth inside the Earth such that the passage of time has been three nights and three days since then. This is most likely the Lehmann discontinuity which we see at a certain depth beneath all of the continental landmasses.
