A Mountain Filled the Whole Earth

Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

(Daniel 2:34-35) KJV

By adding Daniel to Isaiah and Zechariah we’re starting to build a deep bench of prophets who foresaw the changes that take place at the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom.

In the dream that Daniel recalled and interpreted for Nebuchadnezzar, a giant statue of gold, silver, bronze, iron and clay is smashed by a stone that is not cut out by hands, which then becomes a mountain that fills the whole Earth.

This marks the transition from the end of human rule over the earth, to the time when Jesus will sit upon the throne in Jerusalem. The point that we’re making (that’s me and the Holy Spirit), which we now have three prophets speaking about, is that this will be accompanied by tectonic changes in the Earth’s internal structure as the continents all come together to form one large mountain, the top of which is a plateau where Jerusalem is located.

The mountains and hills will be smoothed out, the valleys will be raised up. The Earth will be a flat even surface which gently slopes up to Jerusalem at the summit. Everyone on Earth will be able to see the glory of God at this time, because everyone on Earth will have an unobstructed view of it. Not because of satellite TV or the internet.

It’s interesting that when you search Google for Nebuchadnezzar’s dream there are an abundance of images of what people think the gold, silver, bronze, iron and clay statue looks like. There aren’t nearly so many offerings on what the Earth may look like at this time, and the ones we do have are weird. We’re going to model what we think the Earth may look like at the time of the Millennial Kingdom. We’ll develop our own images.

The pitifully few ideas of what a mountain that fills the whole Earth may look like are bizarre to say the least.

It’s clear that no one takes this part of the prophesy as anything but symbolic. Unbelievers have a field day with it.

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

(Proverbs 8:25-27) KJV

We worked on the idea that the original Earth was shaped as one large mountain some time in 2000 when we were the Custodian in a church. We were sweeping the balcony one day when we realized that rivers flowing from Eden that watered the whole Earth must have started at the highest point. We’re not sure when the penny dropped that this was the reason why several prophesies foretell a return to this condition, but it has to have been by December 2003 because we started making notes about it.

Below are two early conceptual drafts from before we realized that it was possible to use seismological data, on the thickness of the mantle and the size of the core, to calculate the original radius of the Earth. Neither of them has any of the complexity that’s needed to support a hydrological cycle, they only show how the original land mass may have been arranged into the shape of a mountain.

An uneducated guess at what planet Earth at the time of the Millennial Kingdom may look like.
A mountain that filled the whole Earth, but not enough Earth to support the Millennial Kingdom.

As we progress through this month’s devotional we’ll develop on a model that shows the condition of the Earth at the time of the transition to the Millennial Kingdom, and how the Earth may transition. No more uneducated guesses about what the world will be like at the time of the Millennial Kingdom. This month we are going to educate ourselves.
