God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
(John 4:24) ESV
God is a spirit doesn’t mean that God is mystical and undefined, it means His physical nature is that of a vapor. However, God is more than just a Spirit so it’s accurate to say that God has a Spirit.
Spirits are vapors, vapors are gasses, and we can identify exactly which ones are involved. We have gone to great lengths to identify God the Father as the elemental spirit Alpha, Hydrogen, the first elemental particle.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.
– Matty’s Razor
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
(Genesis 1:1-2) ESV
The first time that either of the words soul or spirit occur In the Bible is in the second verse, Genesis 1:2. The word translated as spirit is the Hebrew word ruah which means breath or wind. This same word, expressing the concept of breath or “breathed into,” occurs in Genesis 2 at the creation of Adam.
Faith is believing in something that you can’t see, because of evidence.
– Faith, definition
then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
(Genesis 2:7) ESV
Here we have all of the components of life: a body (solid) which contains blood (liquid), that’s animated by breath (spirit) and now contains a soul. The breath of life, the spirit, caused the body to become a living creature. The body is described as being like a tabernacle, or tent, that we dwell in. The “we” is the soul, our unique identity.
Salvation
- Call upon the name of Jesus Christ,
- believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
- confess your sin.
And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us (and we ourselves beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten with the Father), full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14) A Faithful Version
If the spirit animated the body so that it would be capable of supporting a soul, can we be literal about this and take the meaning of spirit to be a specific vapor, like Oxygen? That is, after all, how metabolism works. This is where we can go off the deep end with our deductive reasoning and initiate Hypothesis 22.
The reason for creation is the manifestation of sentient life with free will.
– The Reason for Creation
Predictive Testable Hypothesis 22
- IF the Holy spirit is the power of God to inspire human writers,
- AND the physics of the universe has been encoded into scripture so that it’s
- obvious and
- invisible
- AND the physics of the universe has been encoded into scripture so that it’s
- THEN phrases or words that look like biology, chemistry, geology or physics should be treated as if they are biology, chemistry, geology or physics
- AND the science will be congruent with the scriptural context.
We can be completely brazen here and tie back to our harmonization of the Holy Trinity with particle physics.
