The Foundations of the World
Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry.
(Psalms 18:7) ESV
Our model of the interior of the Earth groups the various ways which the Hebrew words erets (earth), tebel (world) and sheol (hell) are modified in alignment with the regions of the Earth deduced from seismology.

These are what we euphemistically refer to as the levels of hell.
The Levels of Hell
Level | Grave (sheol) Pit (sahat/bowr) | Earth (erets) | World (tebel) |
Crust | sheol | erets | tebel |
Mantle | mibbeten sheol tavek sheol yerekah bowr | tachti erets erets tachti | mowcadah tebel |
Great Gulf (outer core) | bad sheol | erets beriach matsuq erets mayim tachath erets | |
Core (inner core) | sheol tachti tachti erets bowr, shachath missahat beli | mowcadar erets |
For the purposes of our model this makes the foundation(s) of the world synonymous with the foundations of the hills, the foundations of the mountains and what we saw Jonah refer to as the bottoms of the mountains.
